Mt. View Orchard's Pumpkin Patch!

We have four weekends left of our farm stand to be open for apple picking, picnics, cider donuts,  pumpkins and play. Thank you to everyone who has come thus far and supported are small family farm. It really means the world to be so backed by our community.  I personally invite you all out to our farm for a lovely autumn day with your family and friends to pick our some pumpkins.

The morning October air is crisp and refreshing and we still have plenty of pumpkins in our patch so please come on by and tell your friends about Parkdales only pumpkin patch.  We also have some award winning unpasteurized cider of you to purchase and enjoy. We still have a lot of apple picking at 50cents a pound.  We are in our last month of being open full time and we would love to have you as our guests one day on our small family farm. xoxo your grateful farmer.

Announcing farm to table weddings at Mt. View Orchards!

We have so many friends of our farm who have fallen in love with our land.  Every year we are asked if people could get married here at the base of Mt Hood and I am thrilled to announce that we are going to be hosting weddings next Summer 2016 at Mt. View Orchards. We haven't even officially launched our website and we already have a wedding booked.

We are Hood River Valley’s Premier Wedding Venue and couldn’t be more honored to host your friends and family this coming Summer of 2016. We have been farming on our land since the 1930’s and we believe the there is a lot of passion, love and romance on this fertile farm. We are a multi-generational small family farm and we invite you to come taste and see why getting married on our orchard is both a magical and delicious experience.

Mountain View Orchards offers farm-to-table, rustic, incredible beauty, genuinely Oregon, mostly outdoor venue for up to 160 guests. Situated on 50+ acres at the base of Mt. Hood, bordered by the middle fork Hood River and other farms. The orchard meadow is nestled in the heart of our small family farm and is very romantic and vibrant. Property is a 3rd generation, family owned and operated farm, including a cidery and fruit stand.

Our barn structure allows for amazing views, but also shelter from sun and rain. So, no worries about what the weather will do. 

Environmentally friendly, beautiful wood tables, benches and chairs on-site. No need to rentlinens for tables or use flimsy collapsible tables. Staff sets up and break down according to the design of your own party.

Four clean, well-lit, well-maintained portable restrooms, discreet from reception area view. No bathroom lines. Bride will have use of an indoor toilet in the farm house addition the entire day.

Built-in dj booth for seamless music throughout event. Perfect volume all day and night, in every area of the venue. Use our approved djs or your own i-pod. Patio dance floor with string lighting.

 Choose from our list of wonderful local, day-of wedding coordinators who are knowledgeable about the property, the furnishings, contract, local area vendors and rental companies. Wedding coordinators can help you choose your own florist, caterer, stylist, photographer, baker and officiant. They then coordinate with your vendors to ensure your day goes smoothly.

Built-in bar for full service bartending, provided by our preferred caterers.  We proudly offer Mt. View Orchard’s own handcrafted cider, made right on the property. We offer extensive knowledge of local beer, wine and spirits to help you create a custom bar menu your guests will love.

Access to the property is from 9:00am to 9:00pm. As per county guidelines, music is off at 8:30pm

Easily book shuttle service to ensure your guests arrive on time and get back to Hood River safely. We work with local shuttle service from Hood River hotels.

An Apple a Day!

My favorite thing about fall in Oregon is rambling through our orchard, picking crisp, juicy apples and crunching into one, fresh off the tree. Yet, apples are so commonplace that they're almost overlooked and pushed aside by flashier superfruits, such as pomegranates and goji berries.

An Apple a day is Straight up Nutrition! Packing in quite a bit of soluble fiber (4 grams per medium apple) for a modest amount of calories (95) makes apples a filling, sweet snack. 

Plus, a medium apple counts as 1 cup of fruit, so after eating one you're well on your way to meeting your daily fruit quota (around 2 cups for adults on a 2,000-calorie diet). 

They also are a good source of immune-boosting vitamin C (providing 14 percent of the daily value).

An Apple a day promotes Weight Loss! Apples satisfy hunger for few calories so it's not surprising that they can be part of a healthy diet that promotes weight loss. 

And in a recent study, dried apples also helped participants lose some weight. 

Women who ate a cup of dried apples daily for a year lost some weight and lowered their cholesterol and heart disease markers. (I love eating dried Fruit even more now!!!!!!)

Florida State University researchers think apples antioxidants and pectin (a type of fiber) are responsible for the benefits and think that fresh apples would be even more effective.

An Apple a Day increases Heart Health! The Florida State study is not the only one to link apple consumption to heart health. 

Last year, the Iowa Women's Health Study reported that, among the 34,000-plus women it's been tracking for nearly 20 years, apples were associated with a lower risk of death from both coronary heart disease and cardiovascular disease. 

Some years earlier, Finnish researchers studying dietary data collected over 28 years from 9,208 men and women found that frequent apple eaters had the lowest risk of suffering strokes compared with non-apple eaters. 

Experts attribute the heart-healthy benefits to antioxidant compounds found in apples, which help prevent LDL cholesterol from oxidizing and inhibit inflammation. Plus, the soluble fiber in apples has also been shown to lower cholesterol levels.

An Apple a Day Protects against Metabolic Syndrome! People who eat apples may be less likely to suffer from metabolic syndrome, a cluster of symptoms linked to an increased risk of heart disease and diabetes. 

Joyce Hendley reported in EatingWell Magazinethat researchers who analyzed National Health and Nutrition Examination Study (NHANES) data, a survey of eating and health habits, found that people who had eaten apples in any form over the past day were 27 percent less likely to have symptoms of metabolic syndrome than those who didn't. 

The apple eaters also had lower levels of C-reactive protein, a marker of inflammation whose presence in the blood suggests an increased risk for heart disease and diabetes.

An Apple a Day is an Exercise Extender! Eating an apple before you work out may boost your exercise endurance. Apples deliver an antioxidant called quercetin, which aids endurance by making oxygen more available to the lungs. 

One study showed that quercetin -- when taken in supplement form -- helped people bike longer.
