Peaches, love stories and small family farms

August 19, 2016 Katrina McAlexander

It has been my honor and complete pleasure to host wedding on our small family farm this wedding season.  There is something so magical about seeing our lovely couples walk through our abundant rows of our fruit orchard looking for another glorious moment to capture.  Our farm really is your farm and if you have it in your heart to have your special day here we would love to have you.  Guiding our couples through their special day has been a dream come true and such a wonderful addition to our small family farm. We have been giving tours of Mt. View Orchards Wedding Venue every single weekend and through out the middle of the week there has been so much interest for which I am so grateful.  Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us because we are having a special promotional savings right now that you don't want to miss out on.

"Thank you so very much for all that you did for us to help make our dream wedding a reality! It couldn't have been more perfect, the venue was everything we could have hoped for and more."

Our Fruit stand is a buzz with more and more fruit available to enjoy each week. Harvest time is such an exciting time to be a farmer and sharing our first fruits with you all is such a joy. We have an abundant crop of pick your own peaches, apples, pears, plums and nectarines right now. Also I am pleased to announce we have our fresh pressed apple cider that is 100% Gravenstein apples right now. Total Nectar from Heaven!  We have plenty of Gravenstein apples for sale as well in the stand to help you all make your famous apple sauce and All American Apple pie as well so come by the farm to make the apple sauce of your dreams. We are open 7 days a week from 10-5pm, on Sundays we open at noon. We are a farm that loves to gather so come on by, pack a picnic and enjoy our Summer Harvests.

If you have always hoped to come to farm to table dinner in our orchard I want to personally invite you to join us this year on October 2nd, 2017 for the Gorge Grown Farm to Table Fundraiser.  Ben Stenn of Celilo will be preparing plates featuring farms around the gorge and we are over the moon to be the host.  Farming in the gorge besides so many amazing farmers has been such a pleasure and we are thrilled to be apart of this amazing organization.

Solera Brewery

Solstice Pizza

Double Mountain Brewery

Such an honor to collaborate with so many amazing eateries and breweries in the gorge and I want to extend an invitation for you all to please go and support the places that want to partner with small family farms.  Double Mountian has our peaches this year again in their absolutely lovely Peche Mode(peach beer).  Our fruit is also featured every week at Solera brewery in their mimosas and occasionally on their salads.  They are also using our apricots and peaches in their fruit beers this year.  Soltice Pizza has our peaches in their Famous peach margaritas and pizza. Bodas is using our fresh fruit every week in their catering and peach caprese salad.  Last but not least the Fresh Start Culinary Arts Program is using our fresh fruit as well in their meals so please show some local love to the places that care about female farmers and small family farms thriving generation after generation. xoxo Your grateful farmer Trina

PS. Its really an absolutely stunning time to visit our small family farm.  We open it up like a big living room and I personally invite you to come out and taste and see our farm this season. Xx trine

Grateful

The grateful farmer is a blog about a woman who left her job in the the city to come home to save the family farm.  My desire is to candidly share my journey learning how to farm a 50 acre Orchard at the base of Mt. Hood. I invite you to follow along as I share seasonal recipes, childhood memories, farming successes and failures. Please enjoy the Orchard photos collaging the beautiful seasons and harvests here at Mt. View Orchards. I am grateful and humbled that are you are reading along and want you to know that my farm is your farm.

Honeycrisp apples are a favorite @mtvieworchards and today we are going to be sharing some forward with our local food bank. Apples are extremely rich in important antioxidants, flavanoids, and dietary fiber. The phytonutrients and antioxidants in apples may help reduce the risk of developing cancer, hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease. @mtvieworchards we believe everyone deserves to enjoy the best of our 2018 local apple harvests. We have them in our farm stand as well if you want to pick some up for your lunches. #mtvieworchards #afarmthatcares #afarmthatgathers #afarmthatgivesback #apples #honeycrisps
