I am thrilled to announce that our little baby micro brewery- Mt View Brewing is turning one year old on Saturday 20th, 2021. Guys, somehow by a miracle of God and the fierce love of our neighbors, we made it to our first birthday in the middle of a global pandemic (Tears of joy). Surviving as a small business owner/farmer feels like an epic milestone and I want to personally invite you all to come out from 1-4pm to celebrate our brewery dream triumphing on the farm this Saturday 3/20 from 1-4pm.

Join us underneath our covered wooden pavilion (note: this event is being held at our event space, entrance 6600 Trout Creek Ridge Rd, 97041) to enjoy a pint of a fresh new batch of our very first beer we brewed here—Calibration pale ale. Also come to meet our incredible local brewer Chris Vincenzo. Plan on enjoying music from 1:30-3:30 from our talented neighbor Ben Saur (who’s also an amazing local farmer) singing us some celebratory melodies. Guests 21 years old and better are welcomed to attend this socially distanced birthday (no entrance fee), masks are required when not seated in our covered pavilion with your libation. We got you covered rain or shine but please dress warmly at this is an covered outdoor event. There is ample parking by the event site at 6600 Trout Creek Ridge Rd, 97041-note this is a different entrance/address than our Tasting Room.)

Ryan, our head chef (and my hermanito) will be serving Grateful Vineyard pizza by the slice and aside from our Calibration pale ale we will also have our Irish Red Ale on tap, 2 different Golden Row ciders and our Grateful Vineyard Pinot Noir/Pinot Gris by the glass (ID required)

I am very excited for this event and opportunity to have you all meet Chris Vincenzo, our brewmaster and cider maker at this birthday celebration. Chris started brewing our first beer, the Calibration Ale in early March of 2020 but—plot twist—instead of celebrating with our “Carlos The Steer’ 21st Birthday-New Brewery Release Party we had to pivot quickly to take out only during quarantine. That meant growlers and crowler cans only of our new beers to go because of the new restrictions at the time. We quickly ordered a canning machine and brought growlers/growlette because the covid laws stated we couldn’t use home to go containers. We rallied hard and you guys showed up for us night after night. It was a classic underdog story- Rocky Balboa triumphing against all odds.

Personally this was an equally exciting and intense time because in order to build our baby farm-to-table brewery (Thank you Todd/Team at Gorge Design Build) it took every last dime I had saved and of course some help from Columbia State Bank with a brewery loan (Thank you Craig and Vern). This little brewery dream of mine literally stretched me more financially( + emotionally) than I have ever been in my life as a farmer and I questioned the timing of this building project nearly every minute in the spring time. I literally worked every single day on the farm and every afternoon in the tasting room till dark trying to keep this dream alive and nourished. It feels like a huge miracle to me now that we stayed afloat during this epically challenging year and I feel quite lucky because I know other breweries and small businesses tragically did not make it.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank every one of you who came and bought our beer to go and for backing us up so fiercely during our brewery’s incredibly nerve-racking 1st year. I want to thank my tiny team who showed up every afternoon and tried to keep our tasting room alive with our take out specials (Anastasia, Ryan, Jim, Kit, Chris, Yesenia and my amazing parents). I still believe that farm dreams do come true but it can take all of your determination and an incredibly supportive community to make your dreams fly.

Lastly, We also had our very first Mt Hood Libation Club Pick up last year the weekend of March 20-22nd, 2020. So in the same tradition we are having our March 2021 Pick up party at this event as well from 1-4pm March 20th, 2021 at our Event Space (Note separate entrance than tasting room) The Mt Hood Libation Club is our one of a kind- Beer, Wine and Cider Club at Grateful. Good news, We also have a Grateful Wine only club with numerous benefits and 4 pick up parties a year. Reach out to learn more about being apart of our exclusive club (see my last blog post for more details and email: thegratefulfarmer@gmail.com to join this unique beer, wine and cider club or wine only club.

A wholehearted thank you for supporting our brewery this past year. Hope to see you at Mt. View Brewing’s 1st birthday party this Saturday March 20th, 1-4pm at our Event Space or stop by to take some cans to go because you believe in what we are doing here weaving together farming, fermentation and hospitality at Grateful. Our birthday beer will also be on tap at Grateful this week to plan on ordering a pint if you have a reservation or take some home a growler to go.

xo your grateful Farmer, Trina

What makes MVB unique is we brew on site on our fruit orchard and add our cherries, peaches and pears to every beer we brew. Note *The quantity of Anjou pears we use is well below the threshold for a noticeable flavor contribution but is a unique addition because we are operating a microbrewery in our orchard and is a good way to incorporate our fruit to our libations* We then feed our spent grains and fruit to Carlos the Steer, Pigs and our Chickens.

Honeycrisp apples are a favorite @mtvieworchards and today we are going to be sharing some forward with our local food bank. Apples are extremely rich in important antioxidants, flavanoids, and dietary fiber. The phytonutrients and antioxidants in apples may help reduce the risk of developing cancer, hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease. @mtvieworchards we believe everyone deserves to enjoy the best of our 2018 local apple harvests. We have them in our farm stand as well if you want to pick some up for your lunches. #mtvieworchards #afarmthatcares #afarmthatgathers #afarmthatgivesback #apples #honeycrisps
