Cheers to September

September 2, 2016 Katrina McAlexander

September has always been my favorite month in Oregon.  We begin harvesting our winter pears and all 70+ varieties of our apples.  We are still picking peaches for days but we coming into more pluots and plums. We press fresh cider and start baking pies.  The farm smells absolutely amazing and the fall colors are starting to pop up all over in every direction.   The air is crisp in the morning and warm in the afternoons.  Its perfect time for apple picking and apple sauce making.  So I personally invite you all up to the farm for a farm day.

Visiting our farm stand gives people the chance to experience the big picture of our small family farm and see the variety of plants we tend and the wild forest setting important to our bees and honey production. I like building long-term relationships with customers, and the more relaxed situation gives everybody time to connect when you come and

Farming is about thriving. When the soil thrives, my family and my community thrive. My hope is that the lives after ours will thrive. It's simple, but, to quote Wendell Berry, "This is no paradisal dream. Its hardship is its possibility."

Things to not miss when you visit our farm

1. Pick your own peaches, apples, plums or pears

2. Visit the barnyard and say, "Hello," to Carlos, Wilber, Billy and Waldo.

3. Pack a picnic and enjoy a meal in the heart of our orchard.

4. Play on our 2 different play structures

5. Enjoy our Fresh Pressed Cider or Hard Cider

6. Visit our Event Space or learn more about our wedding venue

7. Try our homemade jams, local honey or dried fruit.

. Pick some dahlias in our fresh flower garden.

9. Visit our Pumpkin patch with breathtaking views of Mt. Hood

10. Meet the farmers who grow fruit with you in mind.

Peaches, love stories and small family farms

August 19, 2016 Katrina McAlexander

It has been my honor and complete pleasure to host wedding on our small family farm this wedding season.  There is something so magical about seeing our lovely couples walk through our abundant rows of our fruit orchard looking for another glorious moment to capture.  Our farm really is your farm and if you have it in your heart to have your special day here we would love to have you.  Guiding our couples through their special day has been a dream come true and such a wonderful addition to our small family farm. We have been giving tours of Mt. View Orchards Wedding Venue every single weekend and through out the middle of the week there has been so much interest for which I am so grateful.  Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us because we are having a special promotional savings right now that you don't want to miss out on.

"Thank you so very much for all that you did for us to help make our dream wedding a reality! It couldn't have been more perfect, the venue was everything we could have hoped for and more."

Our Fruit stand is a buzz with more and more fruit available to enjoy each week. Harvest time is such an exciting time to be a farmer and sharing our first fruits with you all is such a joy. We have an abundant crop of pick your own peaches, apples, pears, plums and nectarines right now. Also I am pleased to announce we have our fresh pressed apple cider that is 100% Gravenstein apples right now. Total Nectar from Heaven!  We have plenty of Gravenstein apples for sale as well in the stand to help you all make your famous apple sauce and All American Apple pie as well so come by the farm to make the apple sauce of your dreams. We are open 7 days a week from 10-5pm, on Sundays we open at noon. We are a farm that loves to gather so come on by, pack a picnic and enjoy our Summer Harvests.

If you have always hoped to come to farm to table dinner in our orchard I want to personally invite you to join us this year on October 2nd, 2017 for the Gorge Grown Farm to Table Fundraiser.  Ben Stenn of Celilo will be preparing plates featuring farms around the gorge and we are over the moon to be the host.  Farming in the gorge besides so many amazing farmers has been such a pleasure and we are thrilled to be apart of this amazing organization.

Solera Brewery

Solstice Pizza

Double Mountain Brewery

Such an honor to collaborate with so many amazing eateries and breweries in the gorge and I want to extend an invitation for you all to please go and support the places that want to partner with small family farms.  Double Mountian has our peaches this year again in their absolutely lovely Peche Mode(peach beer).  Our fruit is also featured every week at Solera brewery in their mimosas and occasionally on their salads.  They are also using our apricots and peaches in their fruit beers this year.  Soltice Pizza has our peaches in their Famous peach margaritas and pizza. Bodas is using our fresh fruit every week in their catering and peach caprese salad.  Last but not least the Fresh Start Culinary Arts Program is using our fresh fruit as well in their meals so please show some local love to the places that care about female farmers and small family farms thriving generation after generation. xoxo Your grateful farmer Trina

PS. Its really an absolutely stunning time to visit our small family farm.  We open it up like a big living room and I personally invite you to come out and taste and see our farm this season. Xx trine

A tribute to our little lady

July 29, 2016 Katrina McAlexander

Our sweet dog went to doggie heaven last night and we are all crying this morning on the farm because she was such a delightful friend.  She was the perfect farm dog and was always game to go on a farming adventure, ride along or walk with us each day.  She loved to eat ripe pears, greet our customers and loved us all with all her lil heart.  Little Lady you will missed greatly, rest in peace sweet girl. xoxo your grateful and broken hearted farmer

Honeycrisp apples are a favorite @mtvieworchards and today we are going to be sharing some forward with our local food bank. Apples are extremely rich in important antioxidants, flavanoids, and dietary fiber. The phytonutrients and antioxidants in apples may help reduce the risk of developing cancer, hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease. @mtvieworchards we believe everyone deserves to enjoy the best of our 2018 local apple harvests. We have them in our farm stand as well if you want to pick some up for your lunches. #mtvieworchards #afarmthatcares #afarmthatgathers #afarmthatgivesback #apples #honeycrisps
